Cold Storage Building

Cold Storage Building, 1904

The Cold Storage building was located on the west side of 4th Street, midway between C and D Streets. In 1899, Cold Storage was operated by A.P. Buckley and later by Armour & Co, as seen in this 1904 photograph. The business stored ice and perishable items such as potatoes, butter, eggs, and meat. By 1909, this location was a livery stable, and by 1922, the wood buildings had been replaced by brick buildings, and housed businesses such as the David City Bottling Works (Ankle Deep), a veterinary hospital, an auto garage and filling station.
